Surgi C announces an update on the DCI implant

The DCI is a cervical implant that was launched by Surgi C in the first quarter of 2009, but has been in clinical use since 2002. Since the launch of the DCI, there has been a controlled role out with selected hospitals.

To date, the results have been very positive with the DCI and surgeons have found it has an important role to play in being an alternative to a Total Disc Replacement (TDR) and a Fusion. It has been suggested that ‘the DCI is a preferred option in patients that have an extensive degenerative neck and are only just still mobile’ Rupert Price, Consultant Neurosurgeon, Stoke . As a result it is felt that the DCI is a favoured option to putting in a fully mobile option, or fusing the segment.
